JIACTIVATE in Machakos County

JIACTIVATE is a social movement by youth and for youth.A research was conducted by Geopoll where 2,000 youth were interviewed in the 47 counties in Kenya.The results revealed that Food Security,Unemployment,Corruption and Healthcare are the issues youth stated that affected them most.

As a result,Organization of African Youth-Kenya Chapter,Brand2d,Kenya Red Cross and Ushahidi partnered together to seek the views and solution by youth in the counties.The endeavour saw,more than 100,000 youth  from 37 counties give their views online via website and their smart phones and many more via sms platform.

In Machakos County,Violet Mbiti Foundation through its brand Youth County Projects Kenya and in partnership with Organization of African Youth,brought together 60 youth on 8th of June 2017 ,who deliberated and gave their solutions on Food Security,Unemployment,Corruption and Healthcare.

These views together with those from the youth in 37 counties culminated in The Youth Declaration which was signed by aspiring presidential candidates at Kenyatta International Conference Center on the the 4th of July 2017.H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga also signed the Youth Declaration.
The Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Public Service,Youth and Gender Affairs Madam Sicily Kariuki and Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission CEO Ezra Chiloba addressed more than 1,000 youth  from 47 counties who converged at Kenyatta International Conference Center.

Violet Mbiti Foundation through its brand Youth County Projects Kenya was represented at The Launch of JIACTIVATE youth declaration at Kenyatta International Conference Center by its Coordinators from 8 counties in Kenya namely Lamu,Kwale,Laikipia,Kitui,West Pokot,Samburu,Machakos and Isiolo.

Due to Success of JIACTIVATE Phase 1,Violet Mbiti Foundation was invited among other youth organizations to the planning event for Phase 2 which took place on 6th of July 2017 at Fairview Hotel.The meeting was organized by Purpose,Organization of African Youth,Kenya Red cross,Ushahidi and Brand2D
