Call to participate in a conference focusing on Youth,Peace and Violent Extremism in Melaka,Malaysia

Greetings from World Youth Foundation, Malaysia.
We have the pleasure to inform you that World Youth Foundation, (“an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations”), and an NGO Associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information will be hosting the International Conference on “Youth, Peace and Violent Extremism”, 30th July – 3rd August 2018, Melaka, Malaysia.
This year’s programme will provide an opportunity for young people from around the globe to come together to discuss, understand, share, find solutions and develop strategies on issues
pertaining to Violent Extremism, Peace, inclusive societies and how they are building resilience in their communities to prevent Violent Extremism..
Objective of the Conference
The International Conference will create a safe and supportive environment for youth to participate in the fight against violent extremism. It is an initiative to engage young people to participate in the dialogue of preventing violent extremism and to enable them to realize the importance of combating violent extremism and building sustainable peace.
  • to provide young people with the opportunity to share experiences and viewpoints on good practices in addressing the drivers of violent extremism;
  • to identify the “push and pull factors” on the drivers of violent extremism
  • to examine and discuss the role of youths in preventing the conditions that are conducive to violent extremism and promoting sustaining peaceful societies;
  • to engage youth worldwide in addressing the challenges related to P/CVE, to include them in the decision making process on P/CVE issues as highlighted in UNSCR 2250
  • to discuss ways to strengthen the links between P/CVE and the related SDGs – as fully implementing the SDGs, with a focus on SDG 16 will help prevent violent extremism by addressing the socio, economic, political factors that enable radicalization; and
  • to empower youths through capacity building and offering opportunities for networking and cooperation.
Expected Outcome:
The International Conference is expected to generate the following outputs and follow up measures:
  • Identification of priority areas of action
  • Country-level activities in P/CVE and capacity building needs
  • Networking on P/CVE implementation facilitation in their respective countries

Plan to attend ILO Training in Turin, Italy

ILO will be hosting a training and knowledge-sharing event to be held at ILO’s International Training Centre in Turin, Italy from 25 June – 6 July.

The main objective of the Academy is to enhance the capacity of decision makers (mainly Ministries of Labour and other relevant government institutions and workers’ and employers’ organizations) to develop comprehensive strategies to tackle the multifaceted dimensions of the youth employment challenge, with gender mainstreaming.

The Academy on Youth Employment is intended to support national capacity to develop, implement and review youth employment strategies and programmes.

More specifically, the Academy aims to:

  • Foster better understanding of labour market concepts for rigorous diagnosis of youth employment challenges;
  • Identify viable entry points for mainstreaming youth employment into national employment policies and development frameworks;
  • Provide guidelines for the development of operational plans and programmes on youth employment;
  • Enhance knowledge on what works for youth employment in different contexts, spanning over a range of demand-side and supply-side measures; and
  • Delve into available methods and tools for monitoring and evaluation of youth employment interventions.

I get great satisfaction for the doors i have opened for my fellow youth through Violet Mbiti Foundation and Vijana Network International Ltd .This past week has been a blessing and busy for us. Development of Kenya Youth Policy 2018

Guidelines for working with and for young people

Grateful that Violet Mbiti Foundation was selected as the Kenyan organization to host the field consultation on Developing Guidelines for working with and for young people in Humanitarian Settings which was submitted earlier today.Violet Mbiti Foundation carried out the consultation workshop in Bomet County led by our coordinator Gideon while Norwegian Refugee Council collected the data in Daadab camp in Garissa County.Violet Mbiti Foundation in collaboration with UN Major Group for Children and Youth carried out the exercise.The consultation also took place in Uganda,The Gambia,Malawi,Mali and Nigeria courtesy of UNICEF and Norwegian Refugee Council

Call for Application – 18th Melaka International Youth Dialogue (MIYD) ‘Youth Engineering A Sustainable Urbanisation’ on 24th – 28th June 2018 in Melaka, Malaysia

World Assembly of Youth (WAY) Headquarters in Melaka, Malaysia are pleased to inform you that the 18th Melaka International Youth Dialogue (MIYD) with the theme ‘‘Youth Engineering A Sustainable Urbanisation’’will be held from 24th – 28th June 2018 in Melaka, Malaysia. This Dialogue is organised by the World Assembly of Youth (WAY) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Malaysia), the Melaka State Government, the Asian Youth Council, and the Malaysian Youth Council.

The 18th MIYD theme has been selected to uplift ideas and leverage the role of young people towards attaining a strategic and sustainable urbanisation. An interactive dialogue on this topic will be of significance to form, educate, and increase awareness on the challenges and entitlements of youth for a conducive and secure environment that assures and supports their development fully at the different levels of society that they represent. Thus, all participants and stakeholders will gather to call for action and structure experiences on the issue of Urbanisation and Youth Development. The outcome document will elevate youth contribution towards the attainment of sustainable urbanisation and assure favorably in youth development as well as the betterment of societies as a whole.
